Guillain-Barre Syndrome | Fort Worth, TX

Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the myelin sheath surrounding nerves, causing muscle weakness, numbness, and paralysis. Symptoms can progress quickly, leading to breathing, speaking, and swallowing difficulties. While there is no cure for GBS, treatments are available to manage symptoms and prevent complications.

The most common treatment is intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), injecting antibodies to improve nerve function. Plasma exchange, removing plasma and replacing it with a substitute solution, can reduce inflammation. Supportive care such as respiratory support or physical therapy can also help manage symptoms.

Recovery can take several months to a year, but most people with GBS eventually recover.

Immediate medical attention is crucial for an accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment. Seeking help as soon as possible can aid in the recovery process and improve quality of life for those with GBS.

Dr. Dombroski has treated and found success with multiple patients with people experiencing Guillain-Barre Syndrome and other neuropathies including neuro-skeletal and neuromuscular issues. He has treated patients with multiple sclerosis, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Acute Flaccid Myelitis, and Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy.

He has been featured on the news explaining the one-of-a-kind equipment he uses to help Guillian-Barre patients increase mobility and lead better lives. While he now has his own practice in Fort Worth, TX, he used to have a clinic and teach at the UNT Health Center in Fort Worth. A link to the video can be found here.
